Son of Oliver L. and Georgia Goldthwait; born February 13, 1872, Converse, Miami County, Ind. Family later moved to Marion, Ind. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army August 15, 1893, and served throughout the Cuban Campaign with Troop A, 7th Cavalry. Saw eight years service in the Philippines. Re-enlisted June 15, 1917, and assigned to Recruiting Service; stationed at Portsmouth, Ohio, where he died November 1, 1917. Buried in Marion, Ind. Honored as a Gold Star in Grant County, IN
