George Rolland Ayers was a
Private in the US Army, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division.
"Rolland" was the son of George H and Edith L (Craig) Ayers. According
to his draft registration,
he was born in Dupond, Ohio (however, we did not find a city by that
name, but did find Dupont, Putnam County, Ohio). His older sister,
Flossie E. Ayers Wilks claims to have been born in Kendallville, Noble
County, Indiana and that is a possibility as well. The family was
living in Kendallville in 1900 and in Peru, Miami County in 1910.
He enlisted in Cedarburg, Wisconsin where he was living and working in
a Pea Canning Factory.
Buried at Oise Aisne American Cemetery
