Walter Bender, a Jefferson Township resident, was born 16 Mar 1897 a son of Albert Bender. He enlisted 4 Jun 1918 and was discharged 12 May 1919. In 1932 he married Blanche Powell. He was employed by Lawless & Siler Sporting Goods Co. prior to his illness. He died 30 May 1947 and was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Indiana.
