In Honor and Memory  of Oral Harvey Anderson

Oral Harvey Anderson was born in Miami County, Indiana on July 1, 1897 to Minerva Belle Miller and John Harvey Anderson. Throughout his childhood, he got an education from his mother at home. He was a normal boy with an active and lively childhood. When it came time to enlist in the service, he registered in Miami County on June 9, 1918 at the age of 21. When he registered he became a private of the 23rd brigade of the United States Marine Corps. During his service he was injured and in a hospital with furuncle (boils) on his lumbar region. His mother Minerva was the one to sign him out once he was released. This happened towards the end of his service year. He was shortly after discharged from the Marine Corps on August 21, 1919. On September 27, 1922, he married Miss Vera S Votow in Wabash County, Indiana. He farmed in Butler Township, Miami County and later to Clinton County where they had five sons, Oral U, Carl E, Earl H, Walter Dean and Harold and two daughters Emma Lew and Nancy.  His life came to an end on April 12, 1973 from lung cancer near Whitestown, Boone, Indiana. He and his wife Vera were interred at Oak Hill Cemetery in Boone County.
